The past few days have been amazing seeing all these people come together and defend free speech on Reddit, better known as ‘the front page of the internet’. The new hashtag #RedditRevolt is exploding with instances and proof of how corrupt this site is and how wacked out its priorities are. There are bad people on the internet, that I understand but banning entire subreddit forums under the guise of ‘creating safe spaces’ is absurd and counter-productive at best. This nonsense comes on the heels of Ellen losing her frivolous gender discrimination lawsuit awhile back and now she’s turning the screws to the site she’s CEO of. It would be more funny if not sad at how obviously under-qualified this woman is to run Reddit. She can’t even use the site properly. Why is she even CEO of it?

For the life of me I cannot understand how this woman has become the CEO of one of the most influential websites in the world. Aaron Swartz would be rolling in his grave if he saw the state of the website he co-founded years ago in hopes of a free internet and free speech.

Reddit's inaccuracy with their ban-blasters is only rivaled by Star Wars Stormtroopers. #RedditRevolt

It seems the past 9 months of Gamergate’s hijinx have reignited the flames of free speech on the internet as a whole. We have Gamergate, then Sad Puppies at the Hugo Awards, and now we have the upheaval at Reddit in pure outright defiance of Ellen Pao’s blatant censorship of the site. I hope this ushers in a new age of ‘I dont’ care if you’re offended, deal with it’ culture and outrage culture takes the backseat where it belongs. We need to take the internet back from these horrible people crapping all over it and what the fifth estate stands for.
